CASTI enjoys creating pottery that conveys true personality and individuality. Each piece is intentionally asymmetrical, achieved through hand-building techniques—especially coiling—that emphasize uniqueness over perfection. His work stands apart from the mass-produced, inviting viewers to experience a different aesthetic rooted in authenticity.
Minimizing the use of glazes CASTI prefers to leave the clay exposed, offering a tactile connection to the raw terracotta. This approach gives each creation a sense of grounding and lets buyers feel the essence of the material.
Inspired by the ancient pottery traditions and vibrant landscapes of Sicily, his work reflects the region’s natural colors: the red of ancient Greek and Roman amphora shards, the many greens of olive leaves, the ever-changing blue of the Mediterranean Sea, and the golden yellow of tuff rock. He is especially drawn to the striking contrasts of red, black, and white clays, a combination that frequently appears in his ceramics.
With nearly twenty years of experience in photography—including photojournalism, fashion, and architecture—CASTI brings a trained eye for composition and detail to his pottery. Now settled with his family in the heart of Sicily, he works from his home studio, infusing every piece with the spirit, colors, and textures of this remarkable island.
